Cross Match Technologies approved as provider of fingerprint capture stations for HSPD-12

Published 18 July 2006

CrossMatch gains an important GSA approval, making its products even more appealing to government agencies which must comply with FIPS-201 by October 2006

Good news for Cross Match Technologies: Its leadership position in the biometrics industry has been enhanced by the decision of the General Services Administration (GSA) to approve the company as an approved contractor of president’s Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12). The GSA approval means that Cross Match’s ID 500, ID 700, and L Scan Guardian units are now listed as the first and currently only fingerprint capture stations on the approved list of products to help government agencies improve the identification and authentication of federal workers and contractors.

HSPD-12 establishes guidelines for government employees to comply with the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201 program, and also requires major government agencies to issue at least one secure, interoperable biometric ID card for their employees and contractors by 27 October 2006. Cross Match is already a supplier to the Department of Defense and other civilian and federal government agencies.
