Quibbles about the use of taser guns notwithstanding, figures released by Taser International show that police departments around the United States continue to favor the company’s stun guns, and also other law enforcement gear the company offers. The other day the company announced that it had received several orders for the Taser X26, Taser X2 electronic control device (ECD), and Taser cartridges in the fourth quarter 2011 and in the first quarter of 2012.
The following six orders were received and shipped in the fourth quarter of 2011:
- The Chicago Police Department ordered 680 X2s with extended warranties; 4,900 Taser cartridges; and related accessories.
- The Pennsylvania State Police ordered 1,308 X26s with extended warranties; 10,464 Taser cartridges; and related accessories.
- An unnamed major U.S. city customer ordered 250 X2s with extended warranties; 1,750 Taser cartridges; and related accessories.
- The Lee County, Florida, Sheriff’s Department ordered 170 X2s; 500 Taser cartridges; and related accessories.
- The Sunrise, Florida, Police Department ordered 165 X2s with extended warranties; 1,032 Taser cartridges; and related accessories.
- The Cary, North Carolina, Police Department ordered 155 X2s with extended warranties; 930 Taser cartridges; and related accessories.
The company says it has received additional orders in the fourth quarter of 2011 from international customers for 65,000 Taser cartridges (the revenue associated with these orders will be recognized in the first quarter of 2012).
The following orders were received in the first quarter 2012 and are also anticipated to ship in first quarter of 2012:
- Waterbury, Connecticut, Police Department ordered 125 X2s with extended warranties; 750 Taser cartridges and related accessories.
- Toledo, Ohio, Police Department ordered 60 X2s with extended warranties; 360 Taser cartridges and related accessories.
The company says that it received and shipped six previously unannounced orders for its evidence capture and management platform in the fourth quarter 2011. The following agencies ordered the Taser AXON on-officer camera system and Evidence.com storage and management service:
- Danville, Virginia, Police Department
- Manassas, Virginia, Park Police Department
- Sibley, Louisiana, Police Department
- Mountain View, California, Police Department
- Rialto, California, Police Department
- Rantoul, Illinois, Police Department
