The Atlantic City, New Jersey, Police Department (ACPD) announced its partnership with SST, Inc. to subscribe to SST’s ShotSpotter Flexsolution to detect and locate gunfire incidents and gather gunfire intelligence in its effort to improve the safety and security for its residents. SST says ShotSpotter Flex is a wide-area acoustic surveillance gunshot detection, alert, and analysis solution that it delivers data and actionable information that public safety and law enforcement agencies need to respond to gunfire incidents. The system also to enable law enforcement to develop effective policing strategies and tactical operations using the real-time intelligence provided by ShotSpotter.

“Safety and security for our residents and visitors is paramount to our efforts, and we take illegal gunfire and gun violence very seriously,” said ACPD chief of police Ernest Jubilee. “To resolve that, we’re integrating our police strategies and tactical operations with the use of the ShotSpotter Flex service to provide the gunfire data and intelligence we need to combat gun violence and related gun crime. The solution not only provides us with the intelligence we need to respond faster and safer to gunfire, but also enables us to more effectively investigate and prosecute illegal gun use.”

ShotSpotter Flex will be delivered to the ACPD in a subscription-based services offering, making it more affordable and more easily deployed, and without the burden and cost of managing hardware and additional IT and other resources.
