ForensicsWebcast of Forensic Handwriting Analysis Conference available online

On 4-5 June 2013, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) hosted the Measurement Science and Standards in Forensic Handwriting Analysis Conference in collaboration with the American Academy of Forensic Sciences-Questioned Document Section, American Board of Forensic Document Examiners, American Society of Questioned Document Examiners, Federal Bureau of Investigation Laboratory, National Institute of Justice, and Scientific Working Group for Forensic Document Examination. The conference, which was simultaneously Webcast, covered topics such as the current state of handwriting examination techniques and limitations, reproducibility and reliability studies, research advancements supporting quantitative measurements in handwriting examinations, advances in statistics for handwriting analysis and a discussion on the future state of the field.

NIST rays that in case you missed this event or would like to view/listen again to the presentations, the archived video of the Webcast is now available online. The video is broken into presentation segments so you can easily skip to the presentation you would like to see. In addition, many of the presentation slides are available for viewing and download. NIST has also posted the notes captured during the final facilitated discussion (which is not archived in video format).

During the conference, NIST polled attendees both in-person and via the Webcast on their roles and thoughts on the current state of handwriting analysis. The anonymous results of this poll have also been posted online for your review.
