Nifty baggage lock helps travelers, TSA

Here is an idea whose time has come: Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules now allow inspectors to break luggage locks so they may randomly inspect checked luggage. This, however, does not mean that travelers have to leave their baggage unlocked and vulnerable to theft. Whelling, Illinois-based CCL, in association with TSA, has developed this clever pair of locks featuring a combination lock for the traveler’s personal access, as well as a lock mechanism to which only the TSA holds the key. A special security window tells the traveler that his or her bags have been accessed by official TSA agents. Placed on luggage, these locks are designed to keep everyone else out, and they will not be destroyed if the passenger’s luggage is selected for a search.
