Last Friday the Justice Department appointedLuke McCormack as the agency’s new chief information officer (CIO)

McCormack will begin his duties in late March where he will be responsible for overseeing the department’s information technology infrastructure and various systems.

“Luke has the expertise needed to oversee the Justice Department’s information management and technology programs, and I am pleased to welcome him in this new role,” said Deputy Attorney General James Cole.

“I’m confident that under his leadership the department will continue to enhance its cybersecurity, enterprise network and law enforcement sharing programs in a cost-effective way – while fulfilling our most critical missions,” Cole added.

Prior to his appointment at the Justice Department, McCormack served as Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s CIO. Previously McCormack served as the acting director of Customs and Border Protection’s infrastructure services division as well as the agency’s director of architecture and engineering.

McCormack replaces Vance Hitch, who left the department in August. In the interim, Eric Olsen, the deputy CIO, has been serving as the acting director. When McCormack assumes the lead role, Olsen will continue on as deputy.
