UDTT's anthrax detection featured on Chinese TV
The Chinese Government has warned that terrorists pose the biggest risk to this summer’s Olympic Games; officials say they foiled two plots, one to bring down an airliner, and another to disrupt the summer games; they are also worried about bioterrorism
The Summer Olympic Games in Beijing are in trouble: As a result of China’s intensified oppression of Tibet, more and more world leaders have announced that they would not attend the opening ceremonies, and in some countries there are calls to boycott the games altogether. While the political problems mount, other preparations for the games continue, among them establishing tight security measures. Universal Detection Technology, (UDTT) a developer of early-warning monitoring and detection technologies, said that the company has recently been featured on a Chinese Language Television Channel, LA18 (for more on UDTT, see this HSDW discussion). The Chinese authorities are interested in technologies for bioterrorism detection. UDT has recently received purchase orders for five-agent bioterrorism detection kits and antimicrobial products from Kadinuo Science and Technology in Beijing. Kadinuo Science and Technology has been active in introduction and promotion of advanced radiation instruments in the Chinese market for more than ten years. The company is a regional supplier of emergency nuclear monitors, environmental radiation monitors, decontamination technologies, and the like.

A Biological attack can be carried out by a single individual that aims to disrupt society. The latest ricin incident in Las Vegas illustrates how a terrorist equipped with just an anarchist handbook and castor beans made one of the deadliest poisons known to man with the intend to cause harm. Note that last week UDTT was invited to a technology fair a by the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security, to present the technology deployed in its BSM-2000 airborne anthrax detector. The technology fair focused on educating members and staff of the U.S. House of Representatives on current homeland security technologies available to successfully detect and respond to acts of bioterrorism. UDTT’s BSM-2000 combines a bioaerosol capture device with a simple and robust chemical test for bacterial spores that is completely automated.
